Transmission Talk Tuesday: The Great Site Maintenance Pause

2020 brought a lot of changes to the way we do things, including a mad dash to get folks equipped to work from home, essentially turning every day into a series of remote broadcasts. That shifted a lot of focus (and capital) from routine and mundane projects and many stations deferred some things like transmitter maintenance. Now, the chickens are coming home to roost, so to speak – over the past several months we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of folks reaching out to us with older transmitters that are off air and needing emergency solutions. As a rule, we’ll see a few of these a year. In March and April, it was 3-4 a week. In this session we discuss this trend, talk about contract engineering as a preventative service, rather than a reactionary one and look at the things that should be done on a regular basis to keep the chances of an emergency to a minimum.

Guest: Josh Bohn, president of Bohn Broadcast Services and MaxxKonnect wireless.
