Nautel Brings DRM, DAB+, HD Radio™ and Audio Distribution Solutions to IBC 2024
Leading manufacturer of Radio transmission products will show a variety of solutions for a wide range of power levels and user requirements; reception on Sunday will highlight advancements in digital radio.
IBC 2024, Stand 8.D70 – Nautel is showing the latest technologies for digital radio broadcasting and audio distribution on their stand at IBC, including DAB+ and DRM multiplexers, content servers/modulators, DRM and HD Radio-capable transmitters, and FM synchronizing options.
Solutions on display showcase a sample of Nautel’s extensive digital transmission offerings with output power ranging from 3.5 kW – 88 kW for FM and 3 kW – 2000 kW for MW. In addition, content servers from Nautel company Digidia are available for both DRM30 and DRM+. These products can distribute audio to a network of transmitters or for implementation of a synchronous FM deployment.
Nautel’s ongoing commitment to digital radio advancement will be highlighted at a reception on Sunday, 15 September at 16:00. The reception, held at the Nautel stand, will feature short presentations from Nautel and industry guests and will be followed with refreshments.
Nautel Enhances VX Series, Celebrates Success
Popular low-to-medium power FM transmitter achieves exceptional customer acceptance; will soon offer internal audio playout functionality.
IBC 2024, Stand 8.D70 – Nautel’s VX FM transmitter series, offering power levels ranging from 150 W to 6 kW, has received “exceptional” positive response from customers, with shipments approaching 1000 units since its launch last year.
Nautel has also announced plans to incorporate audio player and playlist functionality into the VX Series. With the audio player functionality, users will be able to upload content locally or remotely via an IP connection to make a playlist; no USB, addition cards, or site visits are necessary. The built-in audio player can use the file playlist as an audio source and is often used as an audio loss backup. This capability is slated for availability late this year.
“We are appreciative of the major endorsements of the VX Series by customers around the world including some large N+1 deployments,” said John Whyte, Nautel Head of Marketing and Product Strategy. “While there are many offerings in this product category, many customers are showing a preference for Nautel’s build quality, our extensive support, and the confidence of knowing that our financially conservative business approach ensures that they’ll have access to parts and support for years to come.” Whyte says the addition of the audio player, an innovation that Nautel first brought to its transmitters over a decade ago, “has proven to be a very popular capability for our customers and is an example of how Nautel brings continuing enhancements to its products.”
Building on the legacy of the company’s proven VS Series, the new analog VX Series offers advanced control, instrumentation, and features in a compact footprint. The architecture of the new Series incorporates state-of-the-art DSP, power supply, and FET technology to ensure robust performance, serviceability, and value. Additional advances in Nautel transmitter engineering include an updated RF power chain utilizing a new high voltage FET with superior analog FM performance; the power chain has been mated with a dual core DSP for ultra-clean signal generation. Nautel also adopted Titanium-grade industrial power supplies, which are hot-swappable with easy front panel access.
Control of the VX Series is accomplished via Nautel’s new HTML5 Advanced User Interface (AUI), which itself has been the result of a complete re-design over the past few years.
Nautel Offers N+1 and Main/Standby Control Options for Transmitters
SNMP-based controller is available for multiple AM/MW and FM transmitter.
IBC 2024, Stand 8.D70 – Nautel has introduced an SNMP-based system controller for Nautel transmitters. The SC4 controller offers real-time status and changeover control for GV, NVLT, NX, VS, and VX Series transmitters. Pre-configured for these Nautel transmitters, the SC4 has an HTML5 user interface with access via Ethernet.
In addition to the SC4 offering, new at IBC this year is the VS-TC line of main/standby controllers, a simple compact solution for customers needing only switching from a main to a backup transmitter.
The VS-TC is the latest in Main/Standby solutions offered by Nautel. “We design redundancy and reliability in all of our transmitters to ensure that our users stay on the air,” said John Whyte, Nautel Head of Marketing and Product Strategy. “But since many stations prefer to have a backup transmitter for additional peace of mind, these controllers make switchover automatic and easily controlled.”
