Broadcast
Since 2003 the radio industry has seen the first major shift in technology in decades, the move to digital radio. Digital radio, also known as HD Radio, is the next generation of terrestrial radio and Nautel has been quick to provide the technology that allows radio stations to broadcast a digital signal promising listeners a higher quality broadcast where AM sounds like FM and FM sounds like CD quality. HD Radio also allows broadcasters to offer up to two additional radio stations with unique programming on the same frequency as their current analog signal.
Today, Nautel offers the world’s broadest portfolio of solid state digital and analog radio transmitters with models ranging from 1 kW to 2000 kW MW and 150 W to 88 kW FM. We were the first manufacturer to offer commercial DRM+ transmitters and lead the way in HD Radio innovation.
Navigation
Building solid-state navigational beacons was how Nautel started over 50 years ago and is still a major part of Nautel today. Nautel is a leading supplier of NDB and DGPS systems, NAVTEX transmission systems, GMDSS coastal surveillance systems, as well as the emerging enhanced LORAN (LOng RAnge Navigation) technology in the US and Europe.
Nautel designers have evolved the relationship between the non-directional beacon (NDB), antenna tuning unit (ATU) and the antenna itself to create radio beacons dependable enough to be trusted for the most mission-critical applications.

Industrial
Nautel also provides industrial RF power systems which are highly efficient and have digital controls to ensure industrial processes are optimized. Our technology has been used in dielectric heating and drying applications, including the complete development of an RF/Vacuum kiln for drying hardwood lumber.
Nautel RF amplifiers have an overall efficiency of up to 90%, resulting in significant power and cost savings over vacuum tube equipment.
