There’s been a lot of talk over the past several years about AM revitalization. A lot of that has centered around FM translators and MA3 all digital AM, but there has also been some practical application in the area of reducing costs of operation. One of the bigger investments in this regard is multiplexing – combining two or more AM facilities into one site, a task that can be moderately simple, or extremely complex, depending on power levels, frequencies and definitely patterns, that is, whether one or more of the signals are directional. In this session, we talk with Kurt Gorman at Phasetek about some of the challenges and benefits of combining multiple AM signals.
