Continuing from the last session’s theme of AM broadcast and reducing costs of operation, we dig into Modulation Dependent Carrier Level (MDCL). MDCL is included as a standard feature in Nautel’s NX series transmitters and is an add-on option in several other models, as well as in some other brands. We talk about this system and how processing can also impact cost savings realized in an MDCL implementation, as well as how to get the most bang for the buck, without creating significant negative impact on the quality of the broadcast signal. The discussion centers around MDCL implementations and how the different aspects of the installation can affect both quality and savings.
