Nautel Summer Webinars to Cover HD Radio, Safety Topics

Sessions in June and July will provide information on the new Nautel HD MultiCast+ Importer/Exporter, a description of Nautel’s HD SFN technology, and a Tips & Tricks session on “how to not blow stuff up.” Nautel Webinars qualify for SBE re-certification credits.

Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia – From “not blowing stuff up” to lowering digital transmission costs to increasing a station’s HD coverage through new SFN technology, Nautel’s Summer Webinars promise lively discussion and in-depth information.

The first Webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, at noon EDT. Chuck Kelly and Nautel Research Engineer Philipp Schmid will discuss the new HD MultiCast+ product that was introduced at the recent NAB show. This new product, designed to reduce the costs of digital broadcasting, combines an HD Radio Importer and Exporter into one unit and is the first product of its type to include DTS’ Gen 4 HD code. The HD MultiCast+ is 2 RU and includes a built-in multi-channel audio card, GPS receiver, Nautel Reliable HD Transport, software, and station logo support. This webinar is scheduled to run approximately 20 minutes with time for questions at the end.

On Wednesday, June 28, also at noon EDT, Chuck Kelly and Philipp Schmid will again be at the microphone to discuss a new HD SFN (Single Frequency Network) method that enables seamless transition between separate HD transmitters on an SFN, even in areas with challenging terrain. Philipp and Chuck will describe the recent field trials which took place at KUSC, Los Angeles. A paper presented by Philipp at NAB’s BEITC conference in April earned “best paper” recognition for Philipp at the conference. The webinar will run approximately 20 minutes with time for questions afterward.

Keeping the transmitter and yourself safe are the topics of a fast-paced webinar, hosted by Nautel’s “Tips and Tricks” specialist Jeff Welton, on Wednesday, July 12 (noon EDT). The session, titled “How to Not Blow Stuff Up,” will run approximately 45 minutes plus Q&A time and will cover safety, lightning protection, IT security, routine maintenance and more.
