Nautel Achieves AUI Deployment Milestone, Reveals Plans for Remote Access and Control Innovation

Roadmap for award-winning Advanced User Interface includes migration to HTML operation.

NAB 2018, Booth N6031 – Deployments of transmitters enabled with Nautel’s award-winning Advanced User Interface (AUI) have now reached the 8,000 mark – nearly half of the more than 16,000 transmitters the company has shipped since 1970. Nautel announced this milestone during the company’s annual Nautel User Group meeting at NAB, and at the same time outlined plans for updates to the AUI platform.

Scheduled for beta roll-out in the next month, the AUI Companion is now fully developed. This HTML-based application for mobile devices runs in any web browser but has been optimized for smartphone use. The AUI Companion presents critical transmitter parameters, such as power, efficiency and temperature, in an easy-to-read format. It operates as an extension of the AUI on GV, NV, NVLT, VS and NX Series transmitters.

Nautel also announced the completion of initial design work on the new HTML AUI, which will ultimately replace the current Advanced User Interface; availability is planned for 2019. The new AUI will run on both current and future AUI-enabled Nautel transmitters, for both remote access and local front panel operation, and will have the same functionality as the current version.

“Our new AUI design has been in the works for a while,” said Matt Herdon, Product Manager, “with the goal of providing a multi-device HTML platform for all AUI customers. User feedback has guided the design, and we are confident that the thousands of users will be delighted by the next-generation AUI.”
